Puppet Wars was originally meant to be the first of an epic Puppet Wars trilogy where Andre Toulon and his creations would battle the Mummy, Frankenstein and Dracula, with Guy Rolfe set to return as Toulon and Turhan Bay being considered for the part of a mysterious Egyptian. Funding fell through at the last minute, but not before second unit footage was shot of an old–fashioned steam train in Romania, footage that was eventually used in Retro Puppet Master. The movies were written by Jay Woelfel and Dave Parker and were to pick up where Puppet Master III: Toulon's Revenge had left off.

There was another movie called Curse of the Puppet Master, but it is completely unrelated to this unmade movie, other than the title.

Plot

Andre Toulon boards a train disguised as Major Kraus and uncovers a sinister plot by the Nazis on board that involves harnessing an Egyptian sorcerer's power and a partnership with Anubis, the god of death.

• Christopher Lee was available to play Andre Toulon during this time.
• Turhan Bey read for the part of the Egyptian sorcerer role, he had been in Universal's The Mummy's Tomb (1942), which is one of the movies which inspired this movie's script.
• Bombshell was created for this series but she was later redesigned and used in Axis Rising.
• This series was a tribute to the Hammer and Universal monster movies.
• The plot in this series was similar to the one in Indiana Jones with the Nazis in Egypt setting.
• The Curse title was recycled and used for a different movie.
• The official video game has confirmed that the events of this unfinished movie has happened in the canon, as the journal entries of Andre Toulon have referencing to the adventures he had been on.
